Silk organza is a shear fabric, with body. You might say that it
is stiff, except for the fact that it is so soft against the
skin. It is used for wedding dresses, with light, airy, full skirts. Organza is
also used for collars and puffy, full, shear sleeves.
Its crispiness lends this fabric to pleating. We also use it as an interfacing
for silk duoppioni.
For an example of how an organza dress floats, take a look at this video
of a Valentino Printed Silk Organza dress at Saks Fifth Avenue for $3,500.
You might make something similar using any shirt waist dress pattern
you might find.
